Job Summary:
Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in sport assigned. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics.
Minimum Requirements of the Position:
High school diploma. Demonstrable experience as an envelope-pushing sports coach. Own record of pertinent sporting achievement. Intent on inhibiting sports-related injuries. Familiar with sound sports rehabilitation practices. Expert-level strategizing and coordination techniques. Excellent verbal communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Position:
- Provides the proper skills foundation and support for student athletes.
- Manages varsity and junior varsity sport program, and coordinates coaching staff for both.
- Plans and schedules practices, to include strengthening and conditioning programs.
- Develops and implements the program budget.
- Recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
- Inventories equipment, supplies and uniforms; recommends replacement purchases or reconditioning as appropriate.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or areas used for the program.
- Establishes standards of conduct, and enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times; establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Teach fundamental skills of sport.
- Verify eligibility, physicals, and insurance coverage for each participant.
- Work with the Athletic Director in scheduling interscholastic contests.
- Dismiss squad members in accordance with standards established by the schools.
- Responsible for the safety and well being of participants while under direct supervision.
- Render first aid where appropriate.
- Assign assistant coaces duties and responsibilites where such positions exist.
- Maintain an inventory and store equipment assisgned for the sport involved.
- Select a squad.
- Know and comply with local and state handbooks and regulations.
- Submitt written evaluation of work to Athletic Director at end of the season.
- Maintain uniforms and equipment through a student/parent inventory accountability form.
