JOB SUMMARY: To assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for special education students.
QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES:
- Physically able to lift students and/or equipment.
- Is at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Has taken or is willing to take six (6) hours of training.
- Has the ability to read and write.
- Has a positive attitude towards children with special needs.
- Is willing to pursue certification as a school bus driver.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the bus driver by helping students to load and unload from the bus.
- Helps to maintain proper student behavior while the bus is in operation.
- Assists the bus driver in keeping a clean, well-maintained bus.
- Deals with emergencies that may occur while riding the school bus.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the bus driver.

PAY & HOURS: This position is an Occasional Temporary (OT) employee. There are no benefits associated with this position. The rate of pay is on the first increment of the Support Services Salary I scale, which is based on knowledge, experience, skills, and training related to this position.
