JOB SUMMARY: To assist the school staff in the development and implementation of a safe, comfortable, efficient, and motivating educational environment for students in a general education setting/EL support classroom. Positions available throughout the county in secondary and elementary settings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet minimum requirements of 48 college credits or passing score of 455 on the Parapro assessment.
- Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Is skilled in creating and maintaining a wholesome relationship with children.
- Is articulate and accurate in the use of written and spoken language.
- Has good human relations and communication skills.
- Ability to use a computer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs general instructional-related duties, including but not limited to, duplicating materials, preparing materials, and working with students to enrich or reinforce instruction.
- Works under the direct supervision of and in close proximity with a Maryland Certified instructor.
- Assists the instructor and other professionals through general supervision of students.
- Maintains required records and assists with classroom and/or student paperwork when appropriate.
- Provides instruction to students in accordance with the instructor’s plans and instructions in individual or small group settings.
- Provides one-to-one assistance enabling English Learners (EL students) to accomplish language acquisition skills as well as appropriate grade-level content knowledge.
- Promotes goodwill, understanding, and acceptance of the county's programs and actions.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.

PAY & HOURS: This position is considered part-time hourly at 6.75 hours per day and half-time benefits are offered. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Services Personnel I Schedule. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and training related to this position.
